Several people from high school have emailed me in the past two weeks ...
Congratulating me about my books and Nikki's super great newspaper article ...
Shocking the holy bajeezus out of me ...
I was a typical blonde haired, blue eyed girl in high school. But I tend to wonder ...
Do you think they remember? Do you think they remember how they dedicated "Super Freak" to me at my senior prom? Or how they pulled my hair during half time at a basketball game? Or how they called me a dumb bitch every ... single ... day? Or how they shoved me into lockers "accidentally"?
Part of me hopes they don't.
xoxo, B.

I don't know. It's a bit of a double-edged sword isn't it. You want them to remember if only to feel some sort of guilt or be apologetic. You don't because who really wants to remember something like that? :(
ReplyDeleteI know I've already said it, but congratulations again on your book! I'll be checking it out very soon, along with your other works. :)
People have selective memory.
ReplyDeleteI totally would have been your friend. And verbally kicked their ass(es). Every last one of them. It's kind of a skill I have. Throw in a couple big words and they never what hit them ;)
I hate bullies.
Love,
"Stretch" "Beanpole" and "The Jolly Green Giant" (just a few of their favorites)
So I hate this and love this post. With every single congrats you receive, in my opinion it is a bit of guilt bubbling over...and maybe some jealously.
ReplyDeleteBecause maybe, had they played their cards better, they could be friends with a fantastic author who happens to also be amazing.
They miss out. Love you honey bun!
