My name is Becky.
Occasionally, I write books.
You can find them on Amazon (HERE).
Occasionally, I name characters after people I actually know. Monty with a Y is one of my padre's good friends. He has a dog and a super, ridiculously lovely wife, Virginia.
This is my great uncle Phil. He has absolutely nothing to do with my writing, but I dig his shoes and the way he's been drinking Budweiser since the beginning of time.
This is book three (Longbourn State of Mind) mid-edits. I love that I used a red pen. I love even more that this is being done in the car. On the way to Houston. For Christmas last year. It was kind of fun in an, "I'm-about-to-throw-up-from-too-much-Chick-Fil-A-while-reading-at-the-same-time" kind of way.
This is Longbourn State of Mind finished. I signed a whole bunch of copies - mostly for my mom's Christmas gifts, but a few were for students, friends, colleagues, and random strangers that paid postage for my signature. I'm not quite sure ANY of you know just how excited I was. Scribbling my name left me like a kid with too much bubble gum in her mouth and Barbie light up shoes.
And this, my lovies, is the dedication in the front cover of Longbourn State of Mind. I dedicated this one - my best work to date - to one of my favorite people ... my brother. I'm going to take a shot in the dark here and say he hasn't quite read it yet. HOWEVER, I know he would totally love it and possibly see himself as Bossman. Because he does things like a BOSS.
So that's that, huh?
Oh yes.
One more thing.
My junior high BFF writes a column for the Falls City Journal in Falls City, Nebraska. Page four? All about my writing today. And ... maybe a story about red kool-aid. On white carpet.
You can find THAT gem on Nikki's blog HERE.

Congrats!! This is such an exciting accomplishment:)
ReplyDeleteI really love this and it inspires me to continue working on my own manuscript. Are you self-publishing or working with a publishing company? I'm not sure how it all works, but I'd love some insight into how you began and all of the details that led you to where you are now! :)
ReplyDeletePS-Congratulations on your new book. If I bought one, could I get you to sign it for me?? :)
